I hope you will enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy creating them. They are born from the world around me, and, through some mysterious journey, are transformed into images caught in time onto canvas or paper.
They are the record of my journey.
They are songs made visible.
There is no such thing as a blank canvas. One brings to it the accumulated richness of ones life. When, at the start, I have a clear vision, the process changes it, and when I have no clear vision, just the laying on of color, line and shape awakens some image from my shadow world.
The painting process for me is one of letting go (of the ego, of technique, of preconceived ideas and of even art), allowing the painting to develop its own life and its own voice. My role becomes one of keeping that delicate balance between chaos and order.
If my record is confused by strange beasts or monstrous thoughts or sights these are no more than what my eyes saw or my mind conceived.
My materials are whatever is at hand, changing as I change, changing as the image dictates.
I stand back and watch with amazement the process as it happens. I wish I could share that with you.
What I can share are these paintings, the results.
